Schnadt family from Goldbeck Grafschaft Schaumburg |
The ancestry of the Schaumburg Schnadt's isn't still researched completely. It seems that all families within the area between the boundary of the former Principality of Lippe and the town Hessisch-Oldendorf are related to each other. Presumable Herman Schnaden (* abt. 1580 Goldbeck) is the progenitor of all of them. The Evangelical Church in Bösingfeld is the parish church of Goldbeck. Within these early years the church registers are very thrifty in their statements. The first names of the children can only be stated at their marriage or death date by calculating back till the date of birth. Some of the descendants of Hermann Schnaden, which are written sometimes also Schnaat, Schnath or Schnaath, move from Goldbeck in the middle of the 18th century. Some go to the east to the Hannover region, e.g. to Schevelstein and Wahrendahl, others to the west to the Extertal, a valley which is part of the Principality of Lippe, and we find these families then in Bremke and Almena. It looks so as if the complete Rinteln State Forest is surrounded by the Schnadt families in the course of the generations. Schnadts are then found in Exten, Hohenrode, Fuhlen, Hemeringen and its places. Wessel points out the farm "Schnatmeier" in Valdorf /Vlotho near of the boundary to Lippe and Juergen Schnadt (Surnames in Vlotho). I didn't find out details about this till now.

In 1860 the official newspaper "Wochenblatt" noticed under the headline "Common decrees and announcements of the authorities"

1. Schnadt families in St. Louis / Missouri and surroundings
Friedrich Schnadt is identically with that Frederick W. Schnadt from Cleveland, Ohio, whom Walter A. Oltmanns mentions in his "Schnadt-homepage". Friedrich W. Schnadt is from Uchtdorf. Friedrichswald and Uchtdorf are located approx. 6 km away from each other.
2. Schnadt families in Chicago / Illinois and surroundings
The first name "Heinrich" is not unusual for Schaumburg Schnadt's. Georg Heinrich Ferdinand Schnadt ( * 1825 ) and his nephew Heinrich Christian Ferdinand Schnadt ( * 1844 ) were american immigrants. However, Georg Heinrich Ferdinand already emigrated at about 1850 to America so that he cannot be meant with the report in the Wochenblatt. His first son Heinrich Christoph Schnadt was born in 1854 (church record of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Roselle /Rodenberg, Du Page County, Illinois: baptism No. 024/1854).
Who can me tell me something about Arthur G. Schnadt, his descent,
residence etc.?? The song is from 1912.
